I was out this past sunday morning washing my car at around 8:00 or 8:30 (don't
remember exactly when). My car is black so i have to wash it early, before the
sun heats up the paint, making it too hot to wash.
Anyway, my neighbor comes out on his deck (which overlooks the driveway) to
inform me that "Brazil won the World Cup!". I politely said "Great!" and
continued on washing my car.
Now here's the deal...
If Shaq dosn't score 33 points, or Sammy Sosa dosn't hit one out of the park,
or an American team is not in it, then americans just don't give a crap.
And (for the most part) any game that can end in a 0-0 tie is not even a real
sport. Now some of you are saying, "Yea, but what about hockey"?

new wingman
This is one of the funniest commercials on TV right now! It's the Coors Light "Here's to the Wingman" commercial.
If you've ever been a wingman, or had a wingman, I think you'll agree.
Click Here to view the avi (a 3.2MB download but worth it).
You can also listen to a much smaller (472KB) MP3 version (performed by Chis [k] of the band Goldspot).

, a Technical Overview.
I've been getting a lot of questions from my techie geek friends about my
website and how I acomplished certain things. Here, I try to explain the
technologies used to build
.
First, the HTML in
was constructed completely by hand (real men don't use FrontPage). It relies
heavily on client side JavaScript and JavaScript objects.
I also make use of DHTML, which is why I chose to support only Internet Explorer
5 and above. Once you enter the site, the main page is never refreshed from the
server. Navigating through the menus is done by turning layers off and on (divs
and spans to be more precise).
The photo albums (URLs and descriptions) and guestbook comment are stored in a
back-end Oracle 9i database. A stored procedure in Oracle returns the dataset
in XML, which IE5 parses using an XML DOM (i.e. Document Object Model). For
those of you unfamiliar with XML, you can see the actual XML file used to
produce the guestbook by clicking here.
How do I post guestbook comments to the server without reloading the page?
Through a technology called "Remote Scripting". It utilizes a hidden iframe to
communicate with the server. Very cool stuff! For more information on remote
scripting, visit Brent Ashley's website at
http://www.ashleyit.com/rs.

I hope this gives you some insite into my website and possibly a peek at how my
warped technical mind works!
